My lower wisdom teeth are impacted and have been bothering me over the past year so I went to my dentist who gave me a referral to an oral surgeon to get them extracted. I went in for X-rays and they submitted a claim to my dental insurance (dentaquest) to get it covered. I got a letter from dentaquest that explained what it would cover which says:
D7240 extraction of impacted tooth D7240 extraction of impacted tooth D9222 general anesthetic- first 15 minutes x2 D9223 general anesthesia- each 15 minutes x2 D9223 general anesthesia- each 15 minutes x2 D9223 general anesthesia- each 15 minutes x2
Now, the weird part is that when the receptionist from the oral surgery called me to set an appointment, she said that dentaquest is only covering the first 30 minutes of my IV sedation and I would need to pay $100 out of pocket for the last 30 minutes and it would be cash only. I was fine with paying the $100 but I’m suspicious of the cash only part and from what I heard, $100 for 30 minutes of IV sedation is cheap and unheard of. It seems like they’re lying to me because the letter from dentaquest is different from what they’re telling me. What should I do?
