I’m self-employed so I go through the marketplace. I was eligible to receive tax credits before getting married. Ever since we started filing jointly, I have been deemed ineligible for credits, and have been paying out the ass for insurance. My spouse gets covered through work, but they charge an absurd amount to add anyone (more than I’m paying now). We scrape by, month to month, but the health insurance website tells me my income is too high. The marketplace looks at our combined income as if it’s all going towards covering me. This seems wrong, is there any way around this so I can be deemed eligible for credits in the future?
