Hi there,
Looking for some advice. I recently found out I am pregnant. I moved a few months ago from Louisiana to NH. I kept my medicaid in NH, because I still go back and forth there and like my doctor. I plan on being in Louisiana for my pregnancy. I am self employed and lost a lot of income during covid, however my husband (married 3 months ago) makes around 90K. His employer doesn’t cover spouses insurance (I can be on his plan – but it was $500/month additional), so I never went on his insurance. I did not alert medicaid that we got married. (I realize now after researching this, even if we are filing taxes separately, I have to count his income – oops).
So since I do not have any qualifying life circumstances, I cant buy a market plan (since pregnancy doesn’t count), I can’t enroll on my husbands (since open enrollment also ended and we missed the deadlines for qualifying life circumstances), our household income is too high for medicaid or any state supported pregnancy programs, out of enrollment insurances consider pregnancy a pre existing condition, and my NH medicaid is actually now fraudulent, I have no idea how we will pay for this baby. Also yes 90 k is nice, but huge student loans, and I had huge income losses over the past 2 years. Any help would be so appreciated. This is making my head spin. Thank you!!!!!!!
