I’m a 19 y/o in California with sleep apnea looking to receive double jaw surgery for it. I would like to see a few out of network surgeons who I’m comfortable with operating on me (double jaw surgery for sleep apnea is a very specific kind of surgery and getting the right surgeon is very important).
Right now, I think getting a PPO/POS plan under an employer is the best option. However, I do not completely understand how this works. If an employer offers Blue Cross Blue Shield, for example, do I get to choose if it’s HMO/PPO/POS?
Thanks for any insight.
