The dentist’s office did a couple of back teeth tooth-colored fillings and 3 other teeth and a total of 5.
Insurance: United Health Care
Dentist: In-Network.
The dentist’s office is saying insurance downgraded the payments to amalgam and I am responsible for the whole amount they submitted to insurance and not the MAC I see in EOB. I have talked to 3 different reps from insurance and each one is saying different than others.
I am not sure what my recourse is. My total is now coming to a 1500$ and if I knew this is going to cost this much I wouldn’t have gotten the fillings. It is my mistake to not get a pre-authorization and believe when the dentist’s office told me that no pre-authorizations are required for simple procedures like this.
What can I do here? Is my only option to pay that much if I don’t want it to go to collections?
My EOB and bill are here.
