Ultrasound Insurance Question

My PCP referred me to an ultrasound today due to a small, hard lump on the right side of my neck. Said it could be cancer at the worst but since it’s on the smaller side, may be nothing or something that needs to be monitored overtime. Anyways, I have the contact info of two places for an ultrasound with a referral script. I cross checked those providers against my insurance and only one is covered and the one that is has an estimated cost of $560. Looking at the list of other providers for the following (plz let me know if this isn’t what I should be looking for): “Ultrasound, soft tissues of head and neck (Thyroid, Parathyroid)”, I’m seeing a WIDE range of costs within city limits and just outside the city. There’s a handful of providers in the $150-250 range that I’d rather go to since I haven’t hit my deductible for this year yet and would be paying out of pocket.

Since I know nothing about where this ultrasound may lead and very little about how referrals/ insurance works, am I able to take that referral letter to a provider that my PCP didn’t recommend because it’s cheaper? Would they still call my PCP with the results like she said they would for the two she gave me business cards for?
