Hi guys, I’m a 26/M who just got approved for a family based green card. I’m currently unemployed and I’m supported by my parents who live in my home country. Until now I have been on a visitor insurance plan but now I’d like to pay for private health insurance until I find a job. I have a few questions which I tried to google but did not get proper answers. So I wanted to ask people on this sub. 1) am I eligible to buy private insurance being unemployed? 2) Can quote the money my parents send me as my income when I apply?
Certain things to remember regarding my situation. – Wife is an unemployed US citizen and is on Medi-Cal – I cannot apply for any public healthcare plans as it’s against my green card application rules. That eliminates me joining my wife’s plan.
