United Health Dental EOB says K69: Patient responsible for differences in cost of service.

We are having turn around with both dentist and the insurance but basically dentist is saying United health downgrade the payment to amalgam filling and since it is k69 billing code used in EOB I am responsible for what the insurance did not paid. But this difference is not based on the allowed amount but the actual amount the dentist charged to insurance.

Couple of reps from insurance told me that my responsibility is what the EOB says and only need to pay the difference in the allowed amount but a third rep talked to dentist office and said I need to pay what the dentist actually charged the insurance minus the claim paid.

I would have never gotten the additional fillings the dentist suggested if I knew this is going to be my final bill. And the dentist office sent a couple of billss which they corrected again and again but I am sure they are adding something here which is not my responsibility.

How can I sort this out. Even if the special filling is not covered by insurance since the dentist is in network doesn’t,t insurance give a allowed amount they can charge me.

Is my only solution is to pay 2000$ .
