My husband had a Phillips CPAP machine approved by his United Health insurance and used it for awhile until we got a recall notice. Phillips is not offering replacement units at this time because they do not have a fix for the reported problem. He called the doctor’s office and asked them to prescribe a new one but they told him they couldn’t because the insurance wouldn’t cover it due to having already been prescribed one. Is it worth calling United Health to ask them to approve a new one because there is no end in sight for the replacement of the current one? Are there any magic words I should use? TIA.
