United HealthCare: Core PPO HDHP vs No Deductible Plan

So, I feel like I must be missing something here. I am trying to choose coverage for me and my family through my work which offers United Healthcare. There are like 25 plans, but I’ve narrowed it down to 2 different ones.

I get paid semi-monthly and I have family $85K is current pay, will go to $90K at start of insurance 2 adults / 2 children, 29M / 30F / 7M / 4M Live in Indiana I have a newborn but can’t yet add them to this, (don’t have SSN yet), so will have regular newborn visits Also I will be getting a vasectomy after one of these plans kicks in Both me and wife are in generally good health / my wife does have asthma for inhaler / lexapro for anxiety (she can’t take it right now due to breastfeeding), I am in good health and take no medication

Plan A: Core PPO Silver HDHP w/Motion 2550/40% Plan

$479.03 / pay period $2,550 individual deductible / $6,850 Individual OOP (In-network) $2,800 Family deductible / $13,700 Family OOP (In-network) 40% After Deductible PCP / Specialist / Urgent Care: 40% Plan Benefits Summary: https://www.rbgcal.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/SBC-UHC-Core-Silver-HDHP-w_motion-2550_40-CE-MS-1.21.pdf

Plan B: Core PPO Gold 30/30%

$569.86 / pay period $0 individual deductible / $7,800 individual OOP (In-network) $0 family deductible / $15,600 OOP (In-network) PCP / Specialist / Urgent Care: $30 / $60 / $75 Plan Benefits Summary: https://www.rbgcal.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/SBC-UHC-Core-Gold-30_30-CE-M9-1.21.pdf

So I’m paying $181.66 x 12 months = $2,179.22. In my view, I could still pay that amount, but to myself in an HSA account instead of in premium.

So, lets say I get billed $2,550 on both plans:

Plan A: I must pay all $2,550 to meet the deductible, however, I saved up $2,179 over the course of the year, leaving me with $360 out my own pocket in addition

Plan B: I must pay 30% of $2,550, so $2,550*0.3 = $765

Plus, when calculating the total medical $$$ required to meet the OOP, you end up paying twice as much on the no deductible plan as the HSA plan.

Am I missing something or does the HSA plan seem better?
