My Aunt gave me a number from her friend to call about receiving health insurance. She is very helpful and usually offers solid advice and resources. So, i called the number, and the automated message just said “please wait while we connect you”. I talked to the agent and he asked for basic personal info, address, name, social, number etc. and told him my situation. He claimed to work for Florida Blue and gave me his name, sent off a text, and I also recieved an email from [noreply@websales.floridablue.com](mailto:noreply@websales.floridablue.com). He also advised me I will be getting some healthcare.gov mail that will probably say I don’t qualify and to just throw that out…
Here’s the number just in case anyone is curious: 1-877-289-5530
I did all this because I trusted my Aunts judgement, and ignored warning bells. Come to find out her friend hasn’t done anything with it, and got the number off of a commercial on TV. Now I’m worried I got scammed. After researching the number a bit, I see nothing about it being a scam, but also it doesn’t say anything about a business. I figure, since it was on TV, there is less of a chance of it being a scam 50/50(?)
I called the guy back, because he said to in case I have any questions in the future. The system asked who is calling and I gave my name, and it connected to him… I realize this might just be a spoof… Now, I’m kind of pissed. Is there any chance this is legitimate???
Sorry if this board isn’t meant for such posts. Not sure where to put it.
