Background:
As a European now living in the US with a greencard I am a bit confused about US Healthcare… Even just finding health care seems to be made overly complicated. We are freshly married, hitting 30 and plan to start a family. We hear a ton of horror stories of pregnancies costing from 40k to over a million dollars… which is pretty scary. We are moving to Colorado and will be self employed (no employer insurance)
My current European Insurance (which is soon invalid) is $200/month for 1k deductible, no copay, anything past 1k is free, Dr. Visists are also free..
Wants:
We (Husband + Wife) are looking for a Health insurance plan for both of us (and preferably our future babies) The core focus would be something with no Copay and low deductible. That would hopefully protect us from the gnarly pregnancy costs in the US. Personally we prefer picking our own doctors based on research and reviews as from previous experience in the US the ones they recommend “within the insurances network” are often 1 or 2 stars out of 5… Budget, pretty flexible but still preferably under 600-700$, i guess the leeway depends on the deductible. Also not experienced how much this would actually be in the US
TLDR: (SUMMARY)
Need Insurance for Newly wed planning to have babies Low Deductible Preferably no copay Pick our own doctors if possible. Budget flexible, preferably under 600?
Thank you, we appreciate any feedback/guidance we can get!
