Using Health Insurance for Therapy

Hi everyone- I’m (28F) currently in therapy for anxiety and depression once a week for the past 8 months. My insurance has only required me to pay my copay and the rest they cover under my policy. Stupidly enough, I took this as this just being my lucky day and I didn’t really think about it until I began having other physical health and metabolic issues all diagnosed this past year (I had been avoiding doctors for 10 years before that…yikes)- which may have caused my mental health decline. I’m now worried that because health insurance can see my diagnosis code when billed, that somehow therapy is going to be a smear on my permanent medical record and I’ll have trouble getting coverage in the future. Does anybody have any insight around this? I know employer plans don’t cater to individuals so I’m not sure what people mean when insurance companies take into account any pre existing conditions. Is it better to pay cash so it’s not used against me?
