Hello! In Jan I subscribed for health coverage and am using the offered healthcare subsidy for people who make at least 10k a year.
At the time i thought as soon as i figure out what’s wrong with me i will start working again and move on with my life. Turns out I have cancer and I probably wont be working until I’m recovered which will probably be late 2022..
My question: is there anything I can do to avoid having to pay back all of the money I’ve saved from the subsidy? It is to my understanding if I don’t meet the 10k income threshold I will be forced to pay back the cost of the savings each month.
Should i just claim I made 10k on my income and just pay the taxes on that? That would probably be cheaper than paying the full amount back for my health insurance. Thank you!
