I am quitting my job at a pretty large company. After I called the benefits line I found out that my insurance ends the day I stop working there, and two weeks later I will get a letter than informs me IF I am eligible for COBRA, at which point I apparently call back and work through that process with them (two weeks after I’ve left the company).
Standard practice is end old job on Friday, start new job on Monday, this would leave me with a weekend gap.
Is this even legal for me? I’m required to have health insurance after all. Anyone else been in this situation and have advice?
