This is a bit of a rant. Through my employer I am stuck with the worst health insurance company there is (Aetna). I’ve been with them for just a year, and they are horrible. They are unable to give me a consistent answer whether my PCP is in network or not (every time I call I ask I get a different answer). And now this last week I am stuck disputing a bill that they very clearly should have covered, and they are not budging. This bill is for only $90…so if I do have to pay for it, I’ll live. But I have a chronic health condition that will without a question require expensive procedures in the future, and possibly even a surgery. I cannot fathom dealing with Aetna for the more expensive stuff down the road. Just the thought of it sends me into extreme stress and anxiety.
There is a possibility my work will switch health insurance providers in 2023, but I am stuck with Aetna for all of 2022. If in 2023, they still decide to stick with Aetna, I feel like I need to leave my job just so I can get a job that offers better health insurance. It shouldn’t have to be like this….this is ridiculous. I have checked out individual marketplace plans, and they are horribly expensive. Is there any other option whatsoever….? I dont want to leave my job, but I feel like I have to in order to get better insurance.
