I’m 28F and very confused. Is there another symptom of erectile dysfunction that I don’t know about, besides sexual dysfunction? What makes is medically necessary for a man to enjoy pleasurable, painless sex, but not a woman? I’m livid about the blatant sexist coverage of health insurance companies. I can’t afford to pay out of pocket to see a doctor about problems related to sexual dysfunction, and it may cost me my marriage and it has already taken a toll on my mental health. Yet if I were a man, I could get covered for erectile dysfunction “due to organic, vice psychological or psychiatric, causes.” This includes hormone injections, vacuums, implants, and more. It feels like a punch in the gut, and such obvious sexual discrimination. How is this defended by insurance companies? Are there any loopholes? I can’t get any sort of explanation at all when I call my insurance company.
