Hi friends, as the title says, I had an emergency appendectomy due to my appendix nearly bursting around a month ago. I stayed overnight in the hospital and then was discharged. For context, I pay $700 a month in a VLCOL state for health insurance with broad coverage and low deductibles. So imagine my shock when I opened a bill from the hospital for $13,000!!! I don’t know that much about health insurance but this doesn’t feel right… What can I do to appeal this or otherwise lessen my bill? I have low income and am unable to pay that much for a brief stay in the hospital. Please help.
