I know that sounds terrible, I’ve been trying to wrap my head around all the terminology, etc., but I have a hard time understanding whats covered, whats not covered, etc. I’m carrying the insurance as I am a permanent/full time employee and will be hired on with another company as permanent/full time as well, and with day 1 benefits. I currently have Cigna and the new employer has united healthcare. The company I may be working for states that with their benefits, I will be allotted $1500 a month for healthcare, but I don’t see what that can be used for. Does that mean for procedures? Dr visits? No idea, they weren’t specific. I’m currently paying $400 a month for insurance coverage for her and I, and I spoke to a friend that works at the company I may be accepting an offer from, and they stated that they pay $78 a month for her and her son. My biggest concerns are her monthly Dr appoints for pain management and her meds being covered. She is on 2 different opioids. One of which is synthetic, and if its not covered would cost $4000 a month. Not to mention several other medications that she needs just to be able to function. Hopefully I’m in the right place to post/ask this question. Do I just need to call United Healthcare today and start asking questions? My wife understands all this stuff a lot better than I do, but shes out of town at the moment and more or less unreachable until she gets back next week. She left monday, I interviewed Wednesday, and got an offer letter today. So I’m on my own to decide whether or not to take the job. It pays $4 more an hour and a MUCH more desirable position and work environment. But, her health comes first. So if their insurance plan won’t cover what she needs, I’ll have to turn it down. Sorry if this isn’t very well written, I’m at work and trying to hurry up and get this posted so I’m just spewing out info as it comes to me in between people coming to my desk every few minutes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know the obvious answer, learn more about healthcare, and believe me, I’ll never stop trying to understand/learn. Right now, time is a factor, and I don’t have time to learn everything I need to know. I’ll be working for the next 11 hours or so and will respond to anything on here as fast as I can.
