I began seeing an in-network (United Healthcare Oxford) therapist a few months ago. At the time I didn’t inquire about the cost because I read something on my insurance’s website that led me to believe it would be the same as another specialist I see via telehealth ($75 co-pay).
After two sessions I asked the office how they did the billing and they said they billed as a virtual visit, so however my insurance handled that. I have yet to receive a bill from them. I have only received EOBs from my insurance and every one says I may owe $0. Each one has two adjustment codes, “COVD01” and another one that states there is an agreed upon contracted rate. It’s the COVID one that has me wondering.
It says, “This service has been processed in accordance with federal and state emergency guidance. Providers may not bill the member above the allowed amount.”
I live in NJ and today our governor ended our state’s public health emergency. I think there’s still 30 more days until it officially expires. I also see a little banner at the top of my insurance’s website that says the national public health emergency lasts until July 19, 2021.
Does this mean that once July 19th rolls around and the national public health emergency isn’t extended, I will pay the contracted rate?
