I read a lot of horror stories about the cost of healthcare in the US and I thought I’d share my story from Ontario today.
6:30 am. Husband wakes me to take him to the hospital. Chest/arm pains. (Could’ve called an ambulance but hes a man so I drove him).
7:00 am. At emerg
7:30am. In to see a doctor and be assessed
7:30 – about 9:30. Waiting for the next set of tests while being monitored and treated for pain, O2 levels, bp etc
9:30-11:30. Moved to cardiac ICU. Next set of tests done, wait for surgeon
12:45. Wheeled into surgery
6:00 pm. Quintuple bypass surgery completed successfully.
5-10 days expected in hospital and multiple appointments with cardiologists expected.
My cost: $0
This happened to me today and it would be true whether you’re rich or a homeless person on the street.
You guys really need to vote for universal health care
