Could my secondary deny this claim?

So- long story short – my husband and I knew we were going to get pregnant this year (or try). I’ve been on my dads plan for years and will be until this upcoming Summer. My dads BCBS insurance does not cover maternity benefits for dependents. So, I got a plan through my work starting this January.

I fell pregnant in January, and it turned out to be an ectopic. Lots of doctors visits, ultrasounds, and ultimately an ER & hospital stay later I lost the pregnancy.

My dads insurance denied all of the claims (as expected) that were billed as maternity.

They’ve now been sent to my secondary. Someone in passing said my secondary might not pay them because my primary denied them. According to my secondary’s benefits, maternity is a covered benefit. Which is why I got it. But now I’m worried they will deny them just because my primary denied them for not being a covered benefit…all the claims are just showing as pending.

Is that true? Should we be concerned?
