Double insured

I’ve scanned past double insured posts, but I didn’t see an answer. We live in Oregon.

My family is double insured through MODA and Aetna. One plan is free, the other we pay a couple hundred bucks a month for. So far I can see no reason to have two insurances. We barely ever meet the high deductible on the primary, so we never really seem to get any benefits from the secondary. They do know about each other, I feel out the form each year letting each one know about the other.

I was told once by a medical provider that since we were double insured all of our co-pays are waived, but another provider says nope they want their co-pay. We only have co-pays for certain services, not for all services. Mostly we have a high deductible ($4000?) and coinsurance (80/20).

Is there any reason for us to continue paying a couple hundred dollars a month for the secondary insurance? The big caveat on that question is that we are in the middle of a pandemic and a Covid hospitalization could be very expensive.

So I’m trying to figure out if we should drop it now or wait until the pandemic is over and then drop it. We can afford the monthly fees.

I’m also trying to figure out the value of two insurances in general, because so far it seems like there’s little to none.
