How are we supposed to pay $500 a month on health insurance?

(USA) I’m young so I’m still under my parents insurance plan. It absolutely horrifies me that I apparently have to pay close to a thousand dollars every month just to be covered. That’s RENT!! How do Americans afford this? Am I missing something? Or am I seriously going to have to pay an arm and a leg just to be covered? If this is how it is, I honestly don’t even want health insurance. It’s completely ridiculous. Is there any way where I don’t have to pay this while still receiving coverage? Hospital indemnity insurance is cheap and it apparently covers hospital stays. Maybe I’ll just get that. I’ll literally move to any state to avoid this. PLEASE EDUCATE ME.
