Long story short is that I am starting a new job and I’m trying to decide which of the 2 plans to go with. My gut is saying one thing, but I want other opinions.
Also, I have this extremely annoying back thing that I have had for over 2 years now. I’ve had about 5 different procedures so far and I still have back pain. My doc wants to do a discogram within the next few months. Also, I tend to go to physical therapy a decent amount to help with all my body issues that I got going on. If I have something going on with my health, I have no issues going to the doctor so I definitely use the health insurance.
HDHP+HSA
- Cost: $45/paycheck
- In network deductible: $3000
- Out of network deductible: unclear, but I think it is $3000
- Max out of pocket: $6000
- HSA/FSA info: HSA is available, and I would plan on maxing it out per year
- Other: employer contributes $19/paycheck for the HSA
PPO
- Cost: $138/paycheck
- In network deductible: $1500
- Out of network deductible: unclear, but I think it is $1500
- Max out of pocket: $4500
- HSA/FSA info: FSA is available, and I would put about $1,000 in per year (~$38/paycheck) since it doesn’t roll over
- Other: $30 office visits
