So I just found out today, that my insurance Cigna, will no longer be covering counseling via tele-health. I believe this is only for certain plans such as mine (HDHP)… and unfortunately I wouldn’t even be able to count what I pay out-of-pocket towards the deductible.
I’ve been seeing my therapist since January this year, and we’ve been doing tele-health since March due to Covid.
It seems a little ridiculous that Cigna would do this given the current circumstances, and apparently they aren’t the only company doing this (some of extended it though).
She did give me (and other patients with similar insurance situations) the option to visit in-person, and since I’m not immunocompromised or anything I’ll probably do that worse comes to worse.
But just curious if anyone knows more about these policies and/or if it’s something that might be extended. Or if I should contact Cigna and ask for an exemption.
