21 yr old getting insurance for the first time. I feel absolutely lost…

I’m having a hard time deciding between insurance plans. I had no idea how insurance plans worked… came from immigrant parents who kinda shield me from this kinda stuff in hopes I just focused on school. But now as an adult I need to figure this stuff out.

I live in California (92124) and self employed. I made $35k last year before taxes and this year I might make up to $60-80k this year. I live with my boyfriend and have pretty basic expenses ($1k for rent, $2k for credit card, $250 for utilities and $500 for food; these are my main ones). I’m also a full time student and pay $7k in tuition a year. As far as I know, I am not eligible for any tax credits or subsidies for health insurance. My budget is $250-$350 a month.

Potential Plans:

Silver 70 Community Care HMO with HealthNet ($287.48 monthly premium) or Silver 70 Trio HMO with Blue California * Yearly Deductible: $4000 (Individual) * Separate Drug Deductible: $300 (Individual) * Out-of-Pocket Max: $8200 (Individual) * Maximum Cost per Prescription: $250 * Other Deductibles: Not Available

Gold 80 Premier HMO with Sharp ($347.97 monthly premium) or Gold 80 CommunityCare HMO with HealthNet ($342.12 monthly premium) or Gold 80 Trio HMO with Blue California ($384.25 monthly premium) * Yearly Deductible: $0 (Individual) * Separate Drug Deductible: $0 (Individual) * Out-of-Pocket Max: $8200 (Individual) * Maximum Cost per Prescription: $250 * Other Deductibles: Not Available

Other insurance companies I am looking at are United Healthcare but have no idea how to navigate their site/figure out what my premium and plan would have.

I am a bit of a hypochondriac and tend to go to the ER at least once a year. I would definitely be going to the doctors office often, going to my yearly eye exam, and probably go to the dentist bi-yearly. I may want to get contacts in the future and maybe braces/retainer since I grind my mouth a lot. But these are just small things to think of.

My only ongoing health “need” is that I have problems with my blood pressure occasionally and sometimes on anti-anxiety meds. Last year after being pregnant, I had preeclampsia and post-pregnancy still had problems with my blood pressure. Im also recovering from an eating disorder and would like to get to get my heart and esophagus checked out in the long term.

I could use any and all advice. I’m sorry if I may sound ignorant or stupid but I was never really exposed to a lot of this stuff and it’s only been recently that I’ve had this opportunity to learn all of this. Thank you to all of you who read this far.
