I’m 26 and just finished my undergraduate degree. I have never moved out of my parents house and I took the cheapest route possible for undergrad (hence it taking so long to graduate) so that I could stay home and help my parents. Since I just graduated and am 26, I am covered under Medicaid. I’m really interested in paying for Invisalign while I’m still living with my parents and can afford the extra payment. My awareness is that Medicaid will not cover adult orthodontic work. (Side note, aside from cosmetic reasons, a big part of the reason I want Invisalign is because I have TMJ & sleep apnea due to a narrow palate. Even with this, I’m almost positive it wouldn’t be covered.) Here’s my question – is anyone on here aware of the logistics of Medicaid? And if so, would I get reprimanded / kicked off of Medicaid if I did a payment plan for Invisalign? I’ve heard someone say that if the state finds out you paid out of pocket for some Medicaid thing, they might deem you unworthy of receiving benefits. I’m extremely ignorant to all things adult, so any insight is sincerely appreciated. Thank you 😊
