$5k procedure with $3k deductible

I’m trying to understand how my insurance would work in this example case:

I currently have paid $0 toward my deductible. I have a procedure coming up for $5k, my deductible is $3k.

Is my expected cost $2k? I want to ensure deductibles do not normally have fine print stating that they do not kick in until the procedure after deductible was met. Thank you!!
