Healthcare and Huntington’s Disease

My grandfather recently passed away from HD and my mother is around 55 years old which is the same age around where my grandfather got symptoms. My mother has never been tested in her life , she always said this was because it would make her insurance rates go through the roof when she is already struggling to pay. I honestly don’t know if this is true or not or if she’s just making an excuse because she is scared to get tested. She needs to be tested but if insurance rates would go through roof maybe not good idea, will they raise due to a genetic disease like this?
