I have a name brand insurance, Cigna. I have blood draws at least once a year to test my TSH levels and other stuff (hypothyroidism). The last two visits, I got bills for $500, so I asked my doctor to only perform the necessary tests, nothing extra. She said that these blood tests are basic and should definitely be covered, but I still got billed later for $500. We tried contesting the bill with Cigna, but had no success. Is this typical or new? Has anyone here had similar problems with their insurance covering their lab costs?
