I recently had a nasal endoscopy done to diagnose my deviated septum. It was just a regular thing where they stick the camera up my nose a bit to see what’s blocking my breathing, which is by definition a non-surgical procedure, to my knowledge. The hospital bill lists this procedure as a “diagnostic, unilateral, nasal endoscopy.” My insurance company (Bluecross Blueshield) doubled down on that they consider this a surgery and cover it as such.
To me, this makes no logical sense. As a surgery the copay is much higher and I’m not sure what my next move is, or if I’m somehow just misunderstanding something.
Any advice?
