So…
I signed up for Medicaid while collecting unemployment as a result of pandemic layoffs.
I began working again in January 2021 but never updated my employment status with the Washington Apple Health system.
Last month I was the victim of a violent assault that left me hospitalized for many days, where I underwent major surgery.
Now with a bill of 150K+, I am fearful that Medicaid will not only refuse to pay the bill, but come after me punitively for abuse or worse, fraud.
Should I seek the services of a lawyer now? I am not expecting a response from my Medicaid provider until the end of February 2022.
