Not sure if this is the right forum; apologies if it isn’t!
When I started my new job and became eligible for benefits, I selected a dental option. I received insurance cards, found a dentist who confirmed my coverage, and moved forward with Invisalign. It was something I wanted to do and, after calling and confirming that it was covered, I was excited to move forward with it. This was in November. Last week my dental office tried to bill for my treatment, which I started in January. The claim was denied and they were told I wasn’t covered. I reached out to my benefits department, and they responded that my plan didn’t come with dental coverage. I responded that I’d selected an add on of dental. They then said that I’d been enrolled, but the staff had unenrolled me because I wasn’t eligible, but they never notified me that I was unenrolled and they should have. The rep even admitted that they were supposed to notify me, but didn’t for whatever reason. So I was fully under the impression that I had coverage (I even called and checked as did my drs office), but am now being told I don’t. I absolutely would not have moved forward with the Invisalign if I’d known I wasn’t covered. I can’t stop it now because once the trays are ordered and treatment begins that’s it, it needs to be paid for. Essentially, I’m on the hook for the entire cost of the Invisalign (when I was told 50% would be covered) because of a mistake on the end of my work’s benefits department. Do I have any recourse here whatsoever?
