I (US citizen) am in talks with a potential employer who will provide me with insurance. My wife is in process to obtain a green card, but I can’t predict when this will be complete. If I start working before my wife comes to the US, I can start by having employee insurance for myself. My specific question, if my wife comes later after I started my job already, will it be possible to add her to my insurance if it’s months later but she’s a new green card immigrant? Or, is this something that can only be done during a subsequent open enrollment period type of thing and her being a new immigrant would be a “qualifying” they of event?
Second level, if my wife were pregnant when she arrives to the US (with my child of course), would this also affect her ability to be added to my employee insurance, whether more likely or less likely?
