Last summer I had an appointment with an In network doctor. The bill came in 2 parts: the doctor fee and the hospital facility fee associated with it. Aetna covered the doctor bill correctly, but would not cover the facility fee. The EOB said I didnt owe anything either, though. But the provider kept telling me this is an ongoing issue with Aetna, that they keep processing claims like this incorrectly. I had a very long fight with Aetna, and they eventually covered it.
When I was talking with the billing department at my healthcare provider a few days ago, the person told me that at least 1,000 other people at that provider are dealing with the same thing. That Aetna will cover the doctor bill but not the hospital bill. She used an example that one person had an MRI, and Aetna paid for the doctor bill associated with it, but refused to touch the actual cost of the MRI (the Hosptial portion of the bill).
Is anyone else dealing with this? I have another appointment in a few months and scared i will have to deal with it all over again. It was extremely stressful for me to deal with
