I’m in a bit of a weird situation and hoping someone can give me some advice.
I had Anthem BCBS insurance through a job that ended in November, 2020 (a year ago). Over the summer of 2021, they started sending me new “reprocessed” EOBs, along with checks. I called them, thinking it was a mistake, but was told the checks were legitimate and I could deposit them.
Low and behold, over the last 2 months, I’ve started receiving repayment letters demanding I repay all the money I was sent over the summer.
I get that computers make mistakes, and my issue isn’t necessarily repaying the money. I just want Anthem to stop this cycle of sending me checks and then demanding I return the money. I already wrote a letter to the CEO’s office, and they promptly replied that everything was processed correctly (of course).
What can I do to make this stop?
TLDR: Anthem keeps sending me checks and then demanding I return the money. How can I make this cycle stop?
Edited to add: I lived in NJ, employer was in NY. I’ve reached out to the insurance regulators in both but haven’t gotten a response.
