I live in CA and I started a new job last month. Healthcare coverage begins early next year, so I’m looking at the Covered CA site now for short term options until I’m eligible for benefits in early 2021.
Is there a penalty in CA if I choose to decline coverage until I’m eligible to enroll at my new employer? I would be un-insured for only the last couple months of 2020 and January of 2021.
I see calculations online for a penalty in CA for a full year of no insurance, but what about a couple months?
