Can I be on 2 plans at the same time?

I [35M] have my own health insurance through my job, it’s ridiculously expensive and pretty bad. We live in the greater Los Angeles area.

My wife is returning to work at a health care facility and their insurance is great, and very low cost. Her insurance would kick in at the beginning of the next month, would I be able to have both insurances and them cancel mine at the end of the year?

I have underlying health conditions and it would be such a help to be able to use her insurance instead of having to pay $450 for a doctor visit.

I wouldn’t want to do anything that can get us both in trouble.

Thanks for the help
