Catastrophic vision and dental – does it exist?

Hi reddit!

I’m trying to figure out if what amounts to catastrophic vision / dental insurance exists.

So far every plan for vision / dental insurance I have looked at is pretty much useless to me given there is an annual max payout by the insurance company somewhere in the $1,000 to $3,000 range and the amount I would pay in monthly premiums / deductible in order to receive benefits just don’t make financial sense. I have a large enough emergency fund that I’m not worried about paying out of pocket for a surprise $3,000 bill. I am however worried about paying for a $30,000+ emergency surgery to keep my vision or teeth if I was involved in some sort of accident. Does a high deductible plan that covers this kind of situation exist? Do I just suck at finding this kind of thing?

Edit: State is North Carolina for the bot
