charged for a routine MRI of my congenital heart defect

Hey everyone,

My insurance policy used to cover MRI’s 100% before this past year, but they have recently changed the policy and now charge me for 10% of the cost. The imaging was done at a hospital in-network. Doc says I need this MRI done every year to see how much my heart defect has progressed. The price is pretty steep for me as I’m barely making ends meet living in the SF Bay Area.

I have reached out to my insurance and they said the most I can do is file an appeal which the agent I spoke thinks has a good chance of getting denied. I also reached out to the providers billing department and they mentioned I can apply for assistance or setup a payment plan. Any advice for tackling this would be very appreciated. I really appreciate you if you took the time to read this.
