I recently got laid off in November (right before the holidays). They also stated my insurance will end immediately.
Due to this I couldn’t see any docs I still had planned.
However, today i received a letter from Cobra and the first paragraph states:
“On 1/1/2022, you experienced an event of a/an Termination – Involuntary which constitutes a qualifying event under (Employer name redacted) health plan(s). As a result, your coverage, and that of your covered dependent(s), if any, will end on the date(s) set forth on the Cobra Continuation Election form accompanying this letter.”
Then on the Continuation election form it indicates:
“First day of Cobra 1/2/2022” with the last day to elect on 3/3/2022.
I am sincerely hoping that this means I can still use my insurance despite what they mentioned during our mass layoff.
Any insights on this are extremely appreciated!
