I have an adult child in college who is a tax dependent, and I believe my tax credits reflect my support for her. When she turned 19, the marketplace called us and said she had to get off my plan and switch to Medicaid, which she did in 2020, and I purchase a marketplace plan. I recently changed my insurer (different company than my daughter’s Medicaid), and the new plan shows my costs applied to both an individual deductible and family deductible, as well as the out-of-pocket maximums for both individual and family. I’m confused by this. I don’t have to meet a family deductible if I’m enrolled as a single person, right?
