Coverage after job loss

So I’m going back and fourth on another subreddit about how cancer effects health care coverage.

My understanding is that if you have a company paid heath care policy and get cancer you are good. But if the cancer treatment makes it impossible for you to keep working and you lose your job you will also lose your insurance unless you keep it up via cobra or get your own policy and keep paying the premium.

If you can’t afford cobra or your own policy because you no longer have an income you lose coverage and they will continue to treat you but you will rack up huge debt.

The other person is saying that once you’re diagnosed with cancer the insurance is required to pay for your cancer treatment until you die or are cured even if your no longer paying the premium.

Am I missing something or what?
