I’ve been told different things by various reps, so I’m very confused. Got on CoveredCA when I turned 26, but about 6 months later I quit my job and haven’t had an income since. This meant I no longer qualified for CoveredCA but one rep told me to stay on it until 2022. I asked another rep, and she said that was wrong and I could be forced to pay them back as I no longer qualified for their assistance. I immediately signed up for Medi-Cal. I got an informational packet but I never got a bill or a new medical insurance card. I got a letter this week saying I had been approved for Medi-Cal back in November of last year, but was just notified of this in mid January…I’m still paying for CoveredCA as I need insurance, and whenever I try to call the county department to ask them questions I’m sitting on hold for hours and just give up. Do I need to cancel my CoveredCA before Medi-Cal can take effect? Do I need to do anything? I haven’t been assigned an official rep to speak to yet, so I feel like a sitting duck. Anyone know what next steps I need to take, if any?
