Do I understand this right about health insurance?

So there is Premium, Deductible, Max out of pocket, coinsurance, and doctor visit copay.

.

PREMIUM is how much I pay per month, regardless if I seek any medical attention or not.

DEDUCTIBLE is how much I have to pay before the insurance company steps in and helps.

COINSURANCE is what % I have to pay (past my deductible)

MAX OUT OF POCKET is how much the I have to pay before I don’t pay anymore and then the insurance company completely steps in and covers it all.

Doctor visit copay is the reduced rate of the visit, and will count towards my deductible.

Is this correct or am I missing anything?

.

Context: I’m self employed, 30, state of Hawaii, and looking into (private?) insurance. I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle, but anything can happen so I’d like to be ready. Also starting a family in the next few years, so I figure the cost of having a kid uninsured could easily cost as much as a couple years of just having insurance.

Currently I’m looking at the silver plan for HMSA, the most widely used and stable company in hawaii.

Please share any detail I should probably know. Thank you so much!
