Hey guys, quick question. I live in New Jersey, and I’m looking at my state’s healthcare exchange, GetcoveredNJ. I can’t figure out how to estimate my income. I want to contribute $6000 to my IRA and pay for insurance based on my income minus $6,000. New Jersey does not allow IRA contributions to be deductible for state income tax purposes, and the GetcoveredNJ site is not clear on whether IRA contributions get subtracted when estimating income for health insurance purposes.
Can someone please let me know if IRA contributions reduce income for GetcoveredNJ insurance purposes?
Thank you!
