So a family member is starting full-time at a new job soon and they offer health insurance, however, what they currently have through the marketplace is much better and cheaper.
I know you’re ‘supposed’ to report changes in income and such but if they fail to do so, does the marketplace find out about the job change themselves?
Are they correct in thinking that if the employer offers health insurance, you lose the credit for the marketplace? They don’t want to reject the job insurance if they will go from $1 a month for health to $400 due to the loss of credit but they also don’t want to lose money from their paychecks and higher copays if it can be avoided.
Please be nice, they just want to save money and be healthy.
note: I’m serious when I say this is for someone else, NOT me. They’re stressed and worried and i’m trying to help.
