Does retroactive enrollment for a baby take this long? (Almost 3 months without insurance)

My wife and I had our 2nd child mid July. I sent the birth letter to my work a week later and was told via email that he was added (we have carefurst blue choice). After 30 days i noticed he still wasn’t added in my portal, so I followed up.

Turns out my work didn’t complete some uploading process to our third party contractor which submits everything to Carefirst.

Now my boy has been out of insurance since mid August. We had a few appointments and paid out of pocket so far since we were told we will get reimbursed once he is added.

We soon have our 4 month appointment and he still isn’t added. Money is tight and we will need insurance for his daycare soon.

I can only call the member services side of Carefirst who keeps telling me I need to go through my company point of contact for enrollment.

My company says the third party says everything is now submitted to Carefirst and its just a matter of time until Carefirst adds him.

But Carefirst also tells me that this is usually just a matter of 48hours and they might not have everything.

I’m originally not from the U.S. so I’m not sure if this really takes this long or if there is a good chance my work + third party provider have not done their job right.

Thank you
