How we are covered today: 1. Husband: Blue Cross PPO HDHP + HSA 2. Wife: BCBS HDHP + HSA – 2yr old child is covered in wife’s plan
What we are considering for next year: 1. Kaiser: Husbands plan; covers husband, wife and kid (and new kid) 2. BCBS HDHP + HSA : Wife’s plan; covers wife and kid. Costs $0.
The main intent of considering dual coverage is to have BCBS as backup in case we need to go to non-Kaiser facility, which we use currently.
Intent would be to use Kaiser for everything and use BCBS as a back pocket option in worst cases.
Has anyone done this before? I am thinking since Kaiser and BCBS are non overlapping networks, there should not be issues on who pays benefits.
What do people suggest her?
